What You'll Need
- 1 teaspoon canola oil
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 pound extra-lean ground beef
- 1/4 cup plain bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 3/4 cup reduced-sodium beef broth
- 1/2 cup fat-free sour cream
- 1 tablespoon flour
What to Do
- In a small skillet over medium heat, heat oil and saute onions and garlic 3 to 4 minutes, or until soft.
- In a large bowl, combine beef, sauteed onions and garlic, bread crumbs, parsley, egg, water, and allspice; mix well. Form mixture into 20 meatballs.
- In a deep skillet over medium-high heat, bring broth to a boil. Add meatballs, cover, reduce heat to low, and cook for 15 minutes or until no longer pink in center, stirring occasionally. Remove meatballs with a slotted spoon to a bowl.
- Remove 1/2 cup of broth to a bowl, whisk in flour. Slowly whisk flour mixture into broth and cook until thickened. Stir in sour cream and add meatballs back to skillet. Heat for 5 minutes and serve.

Meatballs are delicious, the sauce was a bit thin but very tasty. I will make it again!

Good afternoon! You can substitute plain yogurt, ricotta cheese, marscapone cheese, or heavy cream. Hope this was helpful. :)

I'm sorry, could you be referring to Mascarpone, rather than Marscapone? Marscapone doesn't exist. I always wonder why people call Mascarpone, Marscapone. Truly it is a simple mistake, but it is a mistake that happens way too often.

Hi Chazz, thanks for pointing out that typo to me. I'll keep an eye out in the future to make sure I spell it correctly. :) Have a great week!
