Broiled Garden Tomatoes

A fancy vegetable? A special garnish? Either way, Broiled Garden Tomatoes are sure to please everyone.
What You'll Need
- 1 (2.8-ounce) can French-fried onion, chopped into coarse crumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 firm medium-sized tomatoes, cut in half
- 1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted
What to Do
- Preheat the broiler.
- In a small bowl, combine onion crumbs and Parmesan cheese.
- Brush cut-side of tomatoes with melted butter. Sprinkle with onion-cheese mixture then place on a broiler pan and broil until tops are lightly browned.
- Turn off broiler and close oven door, leaving tomatoes inside for 5 to 8 more minutes, or until soft but not falling apart.
