  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2/3 cup quick-cooking or old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 2 egg whites, lightly beaten
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder*

  • 1 pound ground turkey breast
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 medium red or green bell pepper, chopped

What to Do

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Coat a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.*

  2. In a large bowl, combine 3 tablespoons barbecue sauce and the water. Add the oats, egg whites, chili powder, Worcestershire sauce, and salt; mix well. Add the turkey, onion, and bell pepper; mix well.

  3. Form the mixture into six oval-shaped meat loaves, and place in the baking dish; bake for 30 minutes.

  4. Spread the remaining 3 tablespoons barbecue sauce over the tops and bake for 5 more minutes, or until the meat loaves are cooked through and the juices run clear.

Notes

Switch up the taste each time you make these by using a different brand or flavor of barbecue sauce--smoky one time, zesty the next, and so on!

Very tasty. No one even suspected it wasn't beef and were surprised after dinner when I told them it was turkey. I surrounded the meatloaves with seasoned potatoes and carrots and increased the cooking time by about 20 minutes. It made a quick and easy one-dish dinner. Will be keeping this recipe to make again. The leftovers heated up really good too.

I made this last night and it was delicious, even picky husband loved it.
