If you're looking for a melt-in-your-mouth chicken recipe, look no further! Tomato-Wine Chicken is simmered to perfection and is sure to be a favorite dinnertime suggestion.

What You'll Need

  • 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1 (4-ounce) can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (3-pound) chicken, cut into 10 pieces and skin removed
  • 2 tablespoon water
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

What to Do

  1. In a soup pot, combine the tomato sauce, mushrooms, wine, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper over medium heat. Add the chicken, stirring to coat completely. Bring to a low boil.

  2. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes, or until no pink remains in the chicken and its juices run clear. Remove the chicken to a platter and cover to keep warm.

  3. In a small bowl, combine the water and flour; mix well and stir into the sauce. Simmer over low heat for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens. Serve the chicken topped with the sauce.

Notes

Note: Did you know… that a good part of the alcohol content of wine is absorbed in cooking? That means that, in moderation, we can enjoy the flavorful taste it adds to our cooked recipes.
