What You'll Need
- 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 (4-ounce) can mushroom stems and pieces, drained
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (3-pound) chicken, cut into 10 pieces and skin removed
- 2 tablespoon water
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
What to Do
- In a soup pot, combine the tomato sauce, mushrooms, wine, onion, garlic, salt, and pepper over medium heat. Add the chicken, stirring to coat completely. Bring to a low boil.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes, or until no pink remains in the chicken and its juices run clear. Remove the chicken to a platter and cover to keep warm.
- In a small bowl, combine the water and flour; mix well and stir into the sauce. Simmer over low heat for 1 to 2 minutes, or until the sauce thickens. Serve the chicken topped with the sauce.
Notes
Note: Did you know… that a good part of the alcohol content of wine is absorbed in cooking? That means that, in moderation, we can enjoy the flavorful taste it adds to our cooked recipes.
