What You'll Need
- 2 (6-ounce) beef tenderloin steaks (about 1-inch thick)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt, divided
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, divided
- 2 teaspoon butter
- 1/2 small onion, minced
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup dry red wine
What to Do
- Coat a large skillet with cooking spray. Season the steaks with 1/8 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper.
- Heat the skillet over medium heat. Add the steaks and cook for 6 to 8 minutes per side, or to desired doneness. Remove from the skillet; set aside and keep warm.
- Melt the butter in the skillet over medium-high heat; add the onion, garlic, mushrooms, and the remaining 1/8 teaspoon each of salt and pepper; sauté the mushrooms and onion until tender.
- Stir in the wine and cook over medium-high heat for 4 to 5 minutes, or until the wine is reduced by half. Serve the steaks topped with the mushroom-wine sauce.
